Jain Studies Program Nirvan Lecture 2021: Jain Youth and the Future of the American Diaspora

Thursday, December 2, 2021
12 PM EST | Free Live Webinar

The arrival of Indian Jains to the United States after the post-1965 immigration reform has resulted in a small but economically prosperous community in the United States. First- and second-generation American Jains have rapidly assimilated into American society. This has also resulted in an American youth for which Jainism is interpreted as ethical imperatives rather than a ritual tradition. Join us for a conversation with our panel of experts who will explore the current concerns of Jain youth in the U.S. and the future contours of an American Jain identity.
